Surrounded by a tropical garden, the 600 square meter (6,460 square foot) spa offers a total of eight treatment rooms: two single bungalows and two double massage rooms (convertible to four single treatment rooms); an open-air Vichy shower with two tables; beauty salon for manicures, pedicures and facials; two steam rooms and two saunas; an air-conditioned relaxation pavilion; and a fully-equipped, air-conditioned fitness room.

The Royale Pomare Suite, the spa’s centerpiece, is a distinctive treatment room ideal for honeymooners and couples. Guests can enjoy a private 3 hour 20 minutes session, including a fruit and sand scrub, body rinse and jet shower, flower bath, umehei oil massage, and a Jacuzzi bath. Bianca Henry joined the Hotel Bora Bora team at the end of March 2006 as the Global Sales Manager based at the property. Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Bianca grew up in Tahiti before spending 3 years at university in Montpellier, France studying Art. Her first job in the hospitality industry was as a Reception GO at Club Med Moorea. After a small detour via the entertainment industry being a production assistant on the Survivor Marquesas shoot, she went back to New Zealand and worked at The Ascott Metropolis Auckland for 3 1⁄2 years in various positions finishing in the role of Business Development Manager. On another subject, Hotel Bora Bora recently revealed its new massage menu, a delectable mix of treatments for individuals and couples, incorporating such local products as monoi and tiare. One of the new offerings, the Aman massage, fuses Indonesian and Tahitian techniques for a full-body oil massage. Three therapists are available to treat guests in the massage fare or in the privacy of their own room.

If there’s one thing the new InterContinental Resort and Thalasso Spa Bora Bora management and staff have been doing for the last few weeks of April, it's working day and night to keep the promise of the resort opening date on May 1. The all-villa property is the first resort in the world to use deep sea water to provide air conditioning, and will have the first Thalasso spa built in the Southern Hemisphere. For the first two months, most of the facilities will be open for business, with limited occupancy, while the wedding chapel, heliport, and Deep Ocean Spa will all open in September.
